Back to school tips to ease back to school anxiety

I remember back to school season as a kid. The change from the freedom and sometimes boredom of summer to going back to school filled me with excitement and anxiety! I was excited to see my friends again but also nervous. Would they still like me? Will I like my teachers? Am I going to have a hard time in math? If your child feels the same way, here are some things you can do to get them excited to go back to school and make your life a little easier in the process.

  1. Go back to school shopping! You do not have to buy brand new clothes or spend hundreds of dollars if you can’t afford it. Take them to the second hand store or discount store and let your kids pick out a couple of outfits.

  1. First day outfit-Have your child pick out their first day outfit the night before and lay it out so that it is ready in the morning.

  1. Lunches- Have your kids help decide what they are going to have for lunch that first week. Are they going to have lunch at school or bring their lunch from home? If they are going to bring lunch from home, let your child help you pack it the night before.

  1. Bedtime routine- Start your bedtime routine a week before school starts. Have your child eat dinner, take a bath, brush teeth, read a story, and go to bed at the same time every night. That way when the day before school comes, they will be used to the routine.

  1. Meal Planning- Meal plan for at least that first week back. I plan on doing crock pot meals for at least 3 days that week with my kids favorite meal in between. For my kids, that will most likely be chick nuggets and tacos 🙂

I hope these tips help you! What are some of your favorite tips for back to school?
